I would like to get some ideas on what type of air compressors everyone has knoledge of.  I like the york performance but not the price tag.  I was debating between hard mount and portable and was not sure about a tank.  Need help on this one. Huh

Some people have used a heavy truck air compressor.  They come gear-driven or belt-driven.  You probably would want belt-driven, of course.  They come with serpentine belt pulleys (8 rib) or V-belt pulleys.  They can be had for pretty cheap on eBay or a place like Michigan Truck Parts.  You can even get an on-board tank at a place like that, which is pretty small (sometimes called "sausage tanks," I think).  I have also seen people use a tube bumper as an air tank, threading a quick-disconnect fitting into it.

The only drawback with a truck compressor is that it requires an external oil supply.  You'd have to figure out how to get your pressurized oil supply to the compressor, and then drain it back to your crank case.  You'd also need a governor, but those are cheap and easy to get.
