Last year the Wolverines helped out other Wolverines by working on their vehicles. I know that we had a good turnout to put a lift kit on Lee's jeep, I had a good turn out for the workday on both of my trucks. Mark had a good turn out when he needed help on his Jeep. I know that I rely heavily on the club to help me work on the bronco, if you don't know by now I am mechanically challenged. This isn't to say that I can't change a tire, which I have had a lot of practice with. Just last weekend I had a flat on my left front tire that I had to take to the repair shop and have a new tube put in. I was able to do that with out any problem.
We help each other on the trail or on the road if someone breaks down. We don't leave friends stranded. We lend a hand whenever and wherever we can. Isn't this what friends are for? I would like to think that a friend could call me in the middle of the night if they are stranded or broke down and ask for assistance. Someone at one of the meetings had said that there used to be a 'phone book' of people in other clubs in different areas that other club members could call if they needed help. Maybe the Wolverines can start one up and distribute it to other clubs.
Last night another friend, this one very close to me, woke me up at 2:15 this morning and said that her Dad just called and that they are taking Mom to St. Joe's hospital in Ann Arbor. I didn't hesitate. I got dressed as quickly as I could and we drove to Brighton to pick up her Dad and then to St. Joe's. They kept Kathy's mom overnight. We drove back to Brighton so that her Dad could get some sleep. Kathy needed to come home and get her kids off to school but didn't want to leave her dad alone. I slept on the couch while Kathy came home to get the kids off to school. Fortunately Kathy's Mom is okay and back home.
Friends help each other in good times and in bad times. Friends can call when they have something good to say or when they need someone to talk to. Friends don't lie. Friends are there when we need someone to lean on.
